I Let You Go

Dad I’m rarely home, because I love you.

Two jobs and school just to make you proud.

Exploring my talents while searching for you in the crowd.

Taking on more and more responsibility to be exactly like you.

Our petty fights and pitty misunderstandings goes to show our similarities.

Though I know we won’t ever see eye to eye,

that no matter how mad you get, for me you’d surely die.

Because I love you, I worry about you.

You work hard.

You’re lonely.

Are you even happy?

You also raised two amazing girls.

But because you love me, you’re strict.

You set rules and guidelines to keep me safe.

You expect me to be independent and hard working.

You want me to be successful.

Because you love me, you have me text you when I arrive at my destination.

You want me safe.

I know you love me even when we aren’t on speaking terms.

I know you love me because you check on me every morning.

Cracking open my door,  peeking your head in to make sure I got home from work safely.

I’m the last egg in your nest, your baby trying to fly on her own.

It’s scary, letting go.

But dad, I will be okay because I’m your daughter and I love you

And because I love you all I wish is for you to be happy.

We argue

Disagree

We yell and we cry

And because I love you I feel as if I let you down.

I’m sorry for letting you down,

I am.

But I promise I do love you dad.

Kiana because I love you, you are like a sister to me

Because I love you, I tell you everything

But because I love you, I’m honest with you.

Because I love you I am not afraid to be blunt.

And  because I love you I will support you no matter what,

Giving you hell along the way.

No matter what, you can rely on the fact that I will stay.

I mess around, because I love you

I say things and do things that I do not mean

I’m sorry my string bean

Because I love you, I will protect you

I will fight for you

I will kill for you

I will lie for you

I’d die for you

You call, and I will be there.

Kiana you are my best friend and I want what’s best for you.

I know I seem unreasonable

and I know that I am,

I know I seem closed minded and pessimistic

while you are the open minded optimist I need.

I care about you

Nothing can change the fact that I only want you to be happy.

Because I love you, I put up with your boyfriend

Because I love you I try to keep you smiling

I'm here for you through thick and thin

Because I love you, I lie to your mom for you

Only to help never to hurt

Not a best friend more like a sister.

Kiana because I love you I hate to see you blue.

Because I love you, I fight for you.

I’m sorry it seems I fight only you.

I promise it’s purely out of love Kiana.

Joshua because I love you, I’m here.

Because I love you I will always be there for you, even if you aren’t for me.

I will be there from dusk til dawn

If you need to cry or rant

Or just sit in silence

Nothing is stronger than our bond

Maybe.

Because I love you I value your opinion

I ask you what I should do before anyone else

Because I love you, I bite my tongue

I stay quiet and humble myself

Sometimes

You’re upset and take your anger out on me

Because I love you, it doesn't bother me

Because I love you, I let you use me

Because I love you, I let you choose differently

I know you’re going through a tough time

I know you’re just confused

You are enough

You are smart

You’ve changed my life

And you are my best friend

Joshua I love you for you.

You mean too much to me, I cannot lose you.

Thank you for being there

I’m sorry you’re here for me.

Thank you for listening

I’m sorry you have to hear about it

Because I love you, I come to you first.

I’m sorry for coming to you first.

Because I love you, you’re my best friend.

I’m sorry you have to be my best friend.

I promise it’s only because I love you Joshua.

Aaron, because I love you, your happiness is all I want

To see your smile light up my world on the darkest nights.

Those text from your ex, watching you smile and blush at her name.

I can’t help but feel that fright.

I trust you, I do. But I don’t trust her, there’s no excuse and no one to blame.

We are getting toxic, no friends, only each other.

You and I forever and ever.

But forever turned to never seeing your smile

Forgetting the sound of your laugh

Sitting in silence with nothing but the sounds of our own breath.

“I love you”

I’m too scared to leave, but too bored to stay.

“I love you”

It hurts to imagine you happy with someone else

“I love you”

But this is too hard..

“I love you”

Please don’t ruin the memories we share

“I love you”

But I’ll miss you more.

“I love you”

And I always will.

Because of our past, I will act differently in the future.

Because of this pain, I have matured

And because I’ve matured, I will wish you the best.

Because I care for you, I will protect your image.

Because I love you, I’m grateful for the time we shared.

Because I love you, I will be here for you.

But because I loved you, I had to let you go.

I’m sorry for letting you go.
