I Lied

I am sorry I smiled

I am sorry the last thing you saw was me smiling because I lied

Lying is so easy for me, just one two three

Smile for the picture, grin for the people to make the world your picture

I am sorry I laughed, I meant to cry

I wished on a candle for something to change, all I got was another day

My mouth just betrays me it curls up in a motion it cannot refuse and I- well I love the lie it gives

I love being perfect when I know I am going down while my smile turns up

Numbers of scales and fake smiles and open doors

Closed doors make me happy, because at least then I can look the way I know I should

I am sorry I lied on the phone and said I love you, I meant to say don’t hang up I need to hear your voice to bring me back to life

I am sorry the call interrupted your work, I will just have to remember not to be sad next time.

Look at me and realize I am lying to you, look and realize I am sorry but these pills are swallowing me and I find it harder every day to breathe.

Remind me to lie- I need to lie

Look at me and don’t realize my lie- that will be better at least one can feel happy that way

I am sorry I smiled, I guess I just love to lie.
