I Lost

You win some, you lose some
But I lose a lot more.
I lose when we fight,
I lose when you walk through the door.

I lose when you don’t look back,
I lose when you get in the car,
I lose when I don’t hear from you,
I lose when I don’t know how far-

Just how far you will go.
Will you ever come back?
Will you think about me?
Will you lay this to rest?
Will you ever turn around?
When are you coming back to town?

I lose when I stop expecting your calls,
I lose when I have to explain,
I lose when I see everyone’s sympathy,
I lose when it’s just so plain-

Plain to see that you’re not coming back.
Will you ever come back?
Will you think about me?
Will you lay this to rest?
Will you ever turn around?
When are you coming back to town?

I lose when I’m in the bar again,
I lose when I take her home,
I lose when I don’t feel anything,
I lose when I know I should’ve known-

I should’ve known she meant nothing.
Will you ever come back?
Will you think about me?
Will you lay this to rest?
Will you ever turn around?
When are you coming back to town?

I lose when I get that call,
I lose when I rush to your side,
I lose when you close your eyes,
I lose when the tide-

The tide has changed.
Will you ever come back?
Will you think about me?
Will you lay this to rest?
Will you ever turn around?
When are you coming back to town?

I lose when I’m dressed all in black,
I lose when they lay you to rest,
I lose when the tears come down,
I lose when I’m just a mess.

I’m just a mess without you.
You’re never coming back.
I’ll still think about you.
As they lay you to rest,
I know I can’t turn it around.
I guess I need to leave this town.

You win some, you lose some,
But I lose a lot more.
I've lost everything I've ever loved,
I don't want to love anymore.
