I Lost It

What happened to my willpower?

Where has it gone?

What happened to my restraint?

It’s been much too long.

For five months straight I was going strong,

Now here I am singing a loser’s song.

Please, strength, please, please return.

I need you, I promise,

I still have many calories to burn.

For the month of December,

I completely lost my mind.

For many days, there wasn’t

A Dish I left behind.

Plates and plates of food—

Pile by pile, I chewed, loved, ate.

Now all I feel is hate, hate, hate.

“I can’t, I won’t,” to myself I quietly muttered.

But that was before I saw the rolls freshly buttered.

Oh where, oh where has my resistance gone?

I’m getting pretty weary of singing that song
