For This I Love Thee

I sit beneath the coconut tree;

Oh how dear my coconut tree.

No burdens, no person can disturb

My love for my beautiful tree.

I call to my tree that I am hungry,

And willingly it gives.

I call to my tree that I am thirsty

And willingly it gives.

Oh how dear my coconut tree.

How wondrous its leaves flow

And rustle above me

Whilst nurturing me with its produce.

I love my little coconut tree.

The wind knocks down its coconuts

But it does not penetrate its loyalty.

For this I love thee little coconut tree.
