I Loved You Better When You Were Dead

burning eyes hold dialating pupils

balancing them on their heads

like the popcorn box in the cupboard

every broken lover only brung dread

i think i lost you

somewhere in the view

beyond trucks & stop lights in the night

your reflection will always show

in the car window daylight

30% in facts & in taxes

slipping away once you're fed

i think i lost you in the motel mattress

i loved you better when you were dead
