I miss the snails

In the winter

I miss the snails.

The hermits of nature.

Carrying their homes on their backs.

I miss them.

Crawling about.

They always looked so aware,

so curious about the world around them,

taking things in with their eyes atop stalks.

I can't wait for spring to come.

I do miss the snails.
