I Miss You
Soft tears roll down the cheeks of those that loved you most.
Cancer is such an ugly disease
Not only can it take the body of the ones you love
Turning them into frail creatures
It takes the mind and tortures it.
How much longer?
Will the pain end?
But we don't want you to leave.
You knew something was wrong
You could not hold a paintbrush anymore
Suddenly you could not walk.
You fell.
Then you were in a hospital bed.
You sat, for the first time in days,
So Proud of you.
For fighting so hard when you knew.
Knew that it was going to take you from this life.
Damned cancer.
It took your life from us.
It took your loving kindness from us.
I miss you so much.
I just want one more conversation.
I want to hear about your artwork.
I want to know what fun facts you taught the kids at school today.
I want to see the cats painted on the wall so Buttercup would not be lonely.
I want to hear your laugh echoing from the ceiling.
I want to feel your hug, so thankful that we got to see each other one last time.
I cry right now, not for you
But for me.
I know you are in a place
Where you will never be sick again.
And I am so grateful for that.
But I miss you.
I know this pain will subside.
But I miss you.
I miss you like flowers miss
the fresh rain in the heat of summer.
I miss you like the canvas misses
it's artist painting and creating.
I miss you like my dog misses me
when I've left her alone all day.
I hope that you are creating.
Loving children, teaching them about the
odd,
crazy,
and just plain weird
things that have happened in art.
I hope you know that your spirit lives on
in those that love you.
We still love you.
I hope that when I die
I leave as beautiful a legacy
As you left us.
I love you
And I'll see you again someday
