I Missed Her
I opened my eyes
And The Face was there
But I didn’t jump at the sight of It.
It was already tearing me out of her,
And it was too far along for me to protest.
I calmly floated above her
She laid there still
And “she” was my body
Staring back at me.
The Face looked at me with a mischievous smile
I scowled in reply
It gestured towards her with clear intention
Of nudging me to move on with it.
I ordered her on what to do
“Get up”
“Walk over”
“Get ready,”
And she did as I said as I said it
The Face followed close in watching
I did my best to ignore It.
She went to school
I told her “smile”
I told her “laugh in honest”
I told her “write”
I told her “study your hardest”
She did it, but very robotically
Because she didn’t have me inside of me.
Her friends suspected nothing
As I was desperate to accomplish
The Face was ecstatic as friends were fooled
By the blank happy face in front of them.
The final bell rang
“Get up”
“Walk over”
“Get home,”
And she did as I said as I said it
I was really starting to regret
Tricking her friends
My friends,
Into thinking she felt just the same as them.
I looked at The Face in pleading
To let me and her reunite
It shook It’s head no and I cried and I cried
Because I missed her
I missed her so much,
She needed me
I missed her.
