I Need...
We are so different
Sometimes we wonder why we are together
We fight all the time
And make up in an hour
We pretend like it doesn’t hurt
But we both know the truth
Why do we do this each other?
Tear ourselves down to the point of feeling nothing
Screaming and yelling
Slamming doors
Car engines roaring and tire squealing
We hurt each other
Because we love each other
But is it really happily ever after?
When we fight, and you yell and spit fire. . .
I feel like I’m not worth anything
If you love me then you’ll let me walk out that door and not look back
Don’t keep pulling me back into the fire
Let my bleeding, scarred heart heal
This love is dark, full of anger for a mistake that meant nothing
Forgiveness never came to be whole
I need freedom, sunlight, space, time
I need someone who can move on, forgive me, know that I am not perfect
I need . . . true love.
