I Need Books

I need the printed words on each page I turn

I need the stories to help me escape the harsh reality that can sometimes be life

Books are my companions

My keepers of knowledge and of fantasy to escape reality

The writers who wrote the books keep me alive

They help me see the world through so many eyes

They help me feel when I can’t express myself through my own words

Stories bring me out of my shell and into different realities in which they conjure with their words

With their voices

With their wisdom

With their feelings

With their experiences

They who have left their mark in this world while we still remain

They who have guided us with the words to paint their pictures

They who speak long after they’re gone from this this and sent to the next

I need books to make me feel safe when the harsh reality threatens to suffocate me

Books are my savior

Stories are my shelter

And for that

I shall honor thee by writing my stories to save others

To guide them the way writers before us guided me

I’ll write my stories to help them escape when there is no way out

For that is the purpose we as writers must give to this world that is reality
