I Need My Brothers

Unfortunately our brothers aren't conscious and we don't know our history.

Streets lit

Imperfect colors of blues and reds

Causing purple bruises

Those red stains they’re trying to cover

Are you not my brother ?

From the freedom fighters

To black leather jackets, guns, and greased fros

This sick twisted system so unjust

Roots of racism is older than our hand me down books and busted schools

There you go scrolling pass another Instagram post about a young

black soul taken by the po.

Hearing about the violence in your very own community,

Are you not my brother?
