I Need Myself
I need myself,
which is something that is hard to define.
My physical body, the voice inside my head…
I am made of cells.
Cells made of atoms, atoms made of neutrons, protons, and electrons
Elements.
Tiny particles that come together to form a greater whole.
I am made of minuscule vibrations and jolts of electricity.
Everything is.
We share an invisible energy.
Mine was tweaked just enough to be distinct,
so you can tell me apart from the lions, lilies, and ladybugs
and the Liams and the Lizzys.
I am a self (myself),
an individual.
A stranded me would need to know that she exists individually
and is separate from the world’s other rhythms.
Without her I am nothing (another perplexing concept for another deserted island).
With her I am never alone.
