I Need to Succeed

All I need is to succeed,

So that I know that no matter what happens to me,

Your still alive to breathe

No matter how much life hurts,

I still get up off the ground

Bruises from the neck down

Can’t hear a sound

But I know your screaming my name

Can’t show any fear

Won’t shed a tear

No matter how much blood I bleed

I desperately need to succeed

I can barely fight back

The only time I attack

Is when Dad lunges for you,

Hiding behind my back

I can live with all this pain,

But if I lost you, nothing would be the same

I would have no reason to live

I will bend, but I refuse to break

I got what it takes to survive

I’m coming out of this alive

With you by my side
