I Need Them

I’m drowning under the force of myself

My cold salty tears running down my face like raindrops going down a window

Feeling like I’m being held in a cell

With the laughter of my peers taunting me like jail cell watchers dangling the keys to free me in front on my face

Within the group of my peers I see one face choosing not to taunt me

One who has the deepest frown and the brightest smile

Though today a frown creased into their forehead

I looked the same way but theirs shows deeper pain

I yearned to see the smile that usually glows on their face

The one that lights up a room

It’s a smile that I can never help but smile back at
