I Need You

I keep you in the palm of my hand,

my fingers clutching onto you like stairway railings.

You're sewn into my heart with pink lace and ribbons,

your existance fills this world with beauty,

and I could not imagine my life if you were never there to illuminate it for me.

I see it in watercolored sunrises on summer mornings,

I see it in the blossoming of flowers,

I see it in the eyes of young lovers,

it is in the hand of someone furiously scribbling in their notebook

to express their technicolor dreams and passions onto the ivory of the paper.

Music colors time with the language of self expression,

self expression that would not exist

if you did not exist to provide it.

I see you in the architecture in big cities

that loom over me and fill me with a sense of wonder.

You're a framed piece of photography in a museum,

You are the cinematography in an award winning movie,

You are my poetry.

I cannot live without you, art.

You provide the world with love and beauty and a sense of adventure,

I am ever so grateful to live in a world where art, romance and poetry,

is everywhere if you simply look for it.
