I Never Cried

I used to smile, used to laugh.

I never cried.

I strove to see life's obstacles defied

I never knew the terror of depression,

Never felt what it was to feel oppression,

But now my life has lost its meaning.

Each day spent, struggling, gleaning

To find a way back to the top,

To find a way to make the agony stop

But pain always finds a way

To keep clawing day after day

At my mind, my body and soul

So that the whole world seems blacker than coal.

But in these black ashes I make it my goal

To be a pheonix and rise high

So I can finally spread my wings and fly.

So I can say goodbye, and escape the villain

That makes me cry.
