I only ever see you

I only ever see you in my dreams.

Just when I begin to think

I have forgotten the details of your face;

I see those spots and lines that I once memorized with such urgency and determination...

(I think I knew I'd never see you again)

Suddenly,

in a feverish blur,

you were there.

Bright and resilient.

Back once more to haunt me

in this foolish little head of mine.

You have innocently forgotten me, yes.

I'm alone in the recesses of your mind.

But fret not.

You are in the good company

of my evermost

inescapable memories.
