I Pledge For No Hate
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
And to the republic for which it stands.
One nation.
Indivisible.
With liberty
And
Justice for all.
Funny how they say quote justice for all unquote
But I say justice for privileged.
They see quote indivisible unquote
But I see segregation
They say we are quote with liberty unquote
But we continue to be enslaved under your pressure
Abolished in 1865
But still kept invisible in 2019
Covered in black, seen as the devil, worshiped as evil
Dressed in silver, smell of rotten
But taste like hope
Hand raised over our hearts as if we are accepted
For your love, for your care, for your heart
Hand raised in the air as we are tried in your courts
Honest in our words but, unfairly justified in yours
Walking into your school with your stares
Because I wasn’t you.
Scared to use my liberty because they seem to take it only for theirs
Doesn’t seem we are quote one nation unquote
Your children treating me as their flag
Raising my anger higher and higher into the sky
Waving around my rights in the air
Twisting...turning...capturing my words
To only bring me down time and time again
Wrap me up and store me away in the dark
Using me only when needed
I was afraid to talk
Fallen into deep depression
Letting them use me
Letting them walk over me
Letting them feel satisfied
I pledge allegiance to myself
And to the love in my heart where no hate stands
One heart
Indivisible
With acceptance
And
Love for all
With their hatred towards me, us I take it as them wanting to be us
They don’t want the attention changed onto us.
They watch us move the mountains that once stopped us
We no longer stand to their flag but, to our own
We no longer take pride in their work but, them taking pride in ours
We rise up stronger and stronger
They hit us harder and harder
We don’t stop. We never stop. They will never win.
I am Black. I am Proud. I am Me.
They never will change me for who I am again
They will never treat me less than who I am
Now I know that I hold the power in my hand.
Whether raised to their courts,
Whether raised to their guns
Whether raised to their flag
I pray to myself and my believes.
