I realized

I realized

being Black in a White world would be hard

having to do double to get just as far

getting pulled over for just driving a car

getting lost in the dark even though I'm a star

I realized

that nothing would be handed to me

Though slavery has ended, I will never be free

I will never get to see

my lost brothers and sisters who've been taken from me

by the hate that has been engraved in our history

I realized

that I must mature and take care of myself

My mother will not always be there

so I must create my own wealth

Make my family proud and show that I care

Spark a change for our race since we only have each other

We must do it for ourselves, our sisters, and our brothers

I realized

that  when they see us and feel us

We will finally be seen and felt

I realized
