I Refuse

Failure is never an option, so I guess all that leaves is winnig. Yeah you got me with your cheap shots but I refuse to quit, stop with the cynical grinning. I now refuse to play the cards I've been dealt, now I'm dealing my own. No longer will I accept to be treated like a pauper , because now I know that I have my own throne. You were right about why I couldnt fit in it really was me, it was because I was above you but still you seemed to get under my skin. I am the beauty but was convinced that I was the beast. It has taken me a while but since then I have risen like yeast. I refuse mediocrity, I'd rather just be myself. So you can no longer mold me into that damnsel in need of help. I am own person, I refuse to be treated like anyone else. And now I know why I refused to love you, I didn't even know how to love myself. I refuse to not live up to my fullest potential and to remain at the status quo, I must keep moving forward since success is the path ive chosen to go. Quite simply, I refuse your negativity, constantly spitting your venomous words at me, saying all the things I can't overcome. But I ask you how can I fail when I am the definition of triumph?

My poem is about the struggle and strongholds in life that affects everything about us, down to the way we think, yet in the end we must remain strong and true to ourselves.
