I Remember

I remember the rocky stream and the rickety dock. And the fish weaving about the water like dolphins, and the bamboo creaking so daintily in the wind. I remember the plush chairs and the shimmering lake through the window. I remember sitting in the lake where the leaves fell, painting the landscape with a new shade. And looking around, and not knowing of anything other than what I had. I remember the endless bookcases, and the amazing stories they held. And seeing that there is so much to learn about this world. And I remember that while I didn't think much of it at the time, it was where I wanted to be. I remember the dinners, the games, the music, the love, the hate, the family. But that place is long gone, and all I ever wish for is one more day there.
