I remember

Dear baba,

I remember the first time our beliefs were not aligned,

I could not bear to disagree with you.

I fear the lashings from your tongue

that I know will surely come.

I remember when I first dared clash your words with mine.

I could see the inferno come alive in your eyes.

If I recall correctly, we didn't speak for five days straight.

I remember the first time you came to see,

my actions did not align with yours.

I remember being cast out onto the streets
