I Remember

I remember it was Friday and Saturday, My worst nightmare. I remember Subway on Friday night, Everything was silenced, Something was wrong. I remember getting home and going right to bed, Tears began to fall. I remember waking up, To yelling and screaming. I remember lying on the couch, Watching Spongebob Squarepants, When a handgun fell to the floor. I remember Moms flinch, And looked at her bruises. I remember being told everything will be ok, But never really believed it. I remember the dogs, Shaking and hiding in the closet, Everytime Dad came into sight. I remember Dad going into the bathroom, And locking himself in. I remember Mom grabbing the phone connectors, And pulled me away, Her nails digging into my skin. I remember running to the garage, And Mom calling 911. I remember Mom telling me to stay low, So Dad doesn't see us. I remember Dad searching for us, No where for us to be seen. Biut the cops down the street. I remember Dad going back into the house, Locked all the doors, And hid the gun under the couch. I remember the cops breaking down the door, And tackle him to the ground. I remember the handcuffs, Around his wrists. I remember hearing the cops yell, "Where is the Mom and Daughter?" I remember right there and then, What was really happening. It was all a blur. My Dad was a murderer, Under arrest. I remember looking at the street, The cop car pulling away, Dad in the back, On his way to prison.
