I remember

I remember… making an igloo with the whole family. Once done are whole family sat inside it looking around at the blue light filtered in by the snow.

I remember… building stick forts in the backyard with my brother, a time when my brother still liked doing things with me. We would spend whole afternoons propping sticks against large trees. Once we finished the stick layer we would place bark along the branches in a shingle pattern, making it waterproof, or at least slightly.

I remember … Rocky, a garter snake I caught in the yard for my brother's birthday, It stayed on his desk in an aquarium with a heat lamp for 3 months before it died. We fed it frogs we found outside and crickets from petco.

I remember… fleeing from a coyote in my  friend's yard, then his dad running out of the house bouncing from side to side yelling at it scaring it away. His dad was large and it was an impressive feat by any means.

I remember … taking home my bird in a small cardboard box, wanting to love it with all my heart. Wanting to take it out in the car just to look at it, but my mom wouldn't let me.

I remember… riding on my brothers back at the local pool. It was an amazing game of seahorses that we played. He would swim underwater till I felt like my lungs would burst then he resurfaced. I wanted to play with my brother so I continued the game, but deep down it scared me.

I remember… going into the woods behind my house and just walking, walking and walking till I couldn't remember where I was. I ended up in someone's backyard, they kindly walked a crying me home.
