I remember

We traveled during the night.

My head resting on one of the many pillows surrounding me,

Just trying to stay awake.

We would arrive near midnight,

Nature singing in the night.

We’d sit on the dock,

Glancing up at the stars that would glow,

So unlike the city’s night.

He’d start a fire,

To roast marshmallows for a sweet little treat,

Before we tucked into beds in the dark warmth.

The morning brought smiles and swimming with it,

I’d even swim in the rain.

Water above and water below I’d be in bliss.

Those lost summer days,

With my family together in the woods.
