I Remember

I remember falling in love with darkness
I remember listening to its voice
I remember how strong its grip was
I remember when fear was my only friend

I remember hating the light
I remember its persistence
I remember trying to fight it
I remember how my mind wandered
I remember how the light would bring me back

I remember the light holding on to me
I remember the last time the darkness said my name
I remember ignoring its call
I remember the day the light renewed my mind

I remember the first moment of happiness
I remember when it moved in with me
I remember how it changed my life for the better
I remember it all so well
