I Remember Forgetting

I don't recall the numerous nights I stayed up thinking or the endless days of daydreaming
I don't remember the infinite imperfections forgetting the amount of affection.
I was twelve.

I couldn't recollect the memories we had and the adventures when we were bad
I couldn't recall the things we went through or the sacrifices made for you.
I was thirteen.

I remember how bad i got that night not finding hope in any glimpse of light
I reminecent that cold lonely feeling of having your heart torn out while screaming so loud
I was sixteen.

I remember the nights you told me to be strong but how easy it was for you to move on
I remember throwing punches in the night without anything in sight
I was nineteen.

I don't remember the night we got wasted this was the long lost love I never tasted
I don't remember forgetting But it was something with no regretting.
I was twenty-five.

I remember the first wrinkle on your face indescribable feeling of having you as my mate

I remember the times you'd make me learn having you make me yearn
I was thirty-two

I remember seeing you fade away But the look in your eyes always stayed
I remember your hair falling out yet always smiled throughout
I was sixty.

I remember the pain on the day you rested with plenty of pain and anger invested.
I remember the day i let go without a doubt it was all to say hello.
I was seventy-five.
