I Run Alone

I run alone at night, one foot after the other, Pacing down the road of vast oblivion. The street lights flicker out, one by one, Closing in on me as I try to elude that feeling. That feeling so heavy, the inescapable cloud. It engulfs me, surrounds me, Intertwining and twisting itself into the air I breathe. I inhale. In and out, In and out. I suck in that poisonous nectar. It has become more than I can bear.
