I saw you

I saw you change.
You lit up rooms.
You joked.
You had goals and this soul.
I saw you change.
Each day felt longer.
Weeks progressed disaster.
Denial made weaken.
I felt hopeless.
try, trying to help.
I saw you change.
I tried to stop it.
I dumped rivers of change.
Emptied my pockets for days and days.
I saw you change.
You emptied my pockets.
You hide, and you cloud.
I feel cold in your presence.
Love is so demanding.
I care, I try.
trying to help.
tears and money and heartache and yelling and fighting
denial and therapy
I SCREAM
I pray
I see you change.
every day,
You were this light
shining
bright.
you were a friend.
caring
selfless
I see you change.
I know who you were.
I don't know who you are.
How do you let go of someone?
People aren't memories
they aren't the past.
I see you change.
Every day my heart crumbles.
Your soul, your goals, your dreams, your aspirations
you sold.
to something so small. to a thing. to little unimportant things.
You gave your soul to an object and gave your love away.
I saw you change.
I see you change.
Change I can't take away.
