I See

I see the world differently.

I grow taller and everything is smaller,

But truly the world seems bigger

And badder. The world is a mess.

How can I do anything to make it better?

I see the world as one.

I can only view the disasters

From my part of the world,

But I still ache and grieve

The desparate change unwilling to take place.

I see the world as growing too.

I have gotten older and more cynical,

But I have also seen people come together

To help one another in times of struggle and pain.

I know we can do better, and we will.

I see the world as the place we can make it.

I see the world now that I have grown.
