I See Him Smile

I see him smile.

An appearance of joy

His mouth curves upward yet

His eyes are dull

Why don't they see?

The friends who surround him

I want to see him smile

To make him smile

His walls protect

Yet inhibit feeling

Is he scared to love or

Scared to be loved?

We talk we laugh

Pieve by piece the walls fall

So strong so brave so tough

Alone so long

Desperate to love

To love fully freely

Terrified to realize

I hold his heart

Comfort standing

Side by side hand in hand

I look in his eyes and

I see him smile.
