I see the world and its hues

I woke up today
and noticed:
I wasn’t happy.

Not to be here,
not to be present,
not for anything.

And I—
half-asleep,
heavy-hearted—
opened the window.

The sun.
The grass.
The trees.
The sky.

All of it was there.
Unchanged.
Unmoved.

And I thought,
that’s… adequate.
Not awe.
Not wonder.
Just recognition.

I see this every day.
Every morning.
But today,
it reminded me:
I’m still alive.
Life is still happening.
The world doesn’t stop
just because I have.

The greens,
the gold of the sun,
the wide open blue—
all the gentle hues of living.

No—
they didn’t make me happy.
But they made me
feel something like
sufficient.

Not enough to smile,
but enough to know
that smiling is still possible—
even on days
when I can’t.
