I See You

I see you.

Not in the way that most people do,

But in the fact that

You live so passionately

And have such a strong personality

That makes you stand out

You shine so brightly.

A light in the darkness.

You saw me.

When you first walked into my room

And my busy life.

I was quite surprised.

You were so easy to talk to,

So williing to give out the compliments

That I was so unused to.

You probably still don't know

How much I appreciated it.

The first time

We hung out,

Watching a movie

The next time,

Sherlock.

The times afterwards

All a blur.

All I remember

Is feeling like I was getting

Swept away,

Not knowing what to think

Feel,

React.

I was terrified

Of falling too hard

Or falling at all.

It all changed.

The first date was beautiful

Coffee is always a good thing

Especially with great conversation

And great companionship.

And that day,

You kissed me

In the piano garden

Surprising me

I think surprising you too.

It was unexpected,

But felt right.

Many movies later

And kisses

And a couple of dates

It was official.

I was happy.

I still am.

I'm struck constantly

By how you stand out

From the crowd

Whistling down the halls

Making you

Incredibly recognizable.

Giving your opinion,

Regardless of the general consensus.

Never afraid to be different.

Always being witty and funny

With your movie quotes

And your ways to lighten the mood.

Being incredibly

Sweet and gentle

And asking constantly

If everything is okay.

And singing softly to me

When it isn't.

It's exactly what I need.

I'm still surprised

That this happened.

I know it won't last forever

But while it does last

I'm happy with you

And that's all that matters.

I see you.

And to me,

You shine so brightly.
