I Should/Shouldn't have Danced
I remember days
When i should have danced,
Even if i wasn’t good enough,
Even if i felt i wasn't enough.
The days
When i should have danced:
The first day: When i saw your eyes alone in the rain.
The second day: When i was under the party lights in 7th grade
you begged me but i sat in the corner
The last day: When i was with my family in the living room
broken soon after.
I felt the music too late.
I remember days
When i shouldn’t have danced,
Even if i believed the lies,
Even if i felt it wasn’t a lie.
The days
When i shouldn’t have danced:
The first day: When i was alone with that boy in my room.
The second day: When i was under the party lights in another state
I gave into lust too soon
The last day: today, when i was alone in my room
Sometimes i dance away my tears, but i spilled my coffee on accident.
I felt the music too soon.
