I Sing
I sing a song of sadness
I sing a song of joy
I sing when I’m above the clouds
E’en when I’m unemployed.
I sing to praise the heavens
To calm life’s stormy seas
I sing when I’m a sinking ship
To gain a life of ease.
In anger and frustration
Not acting as a team
I sing when I have a short fuse
And I blow off some steam.
Relieve the stress inside me
And take away the pain
I sing to individualize
And make me less “Plain Jane.”
I sing for inspiration
And sometimes to inspire
I sing to spread the Gospel word
Igniting souls on fire.
In self-evident courage
Displaying all my pride
I sing for everyone to hear
And all my fears subside.
I sing in consolation
To wipe away my tears
And if my voice entitles me
I’ll sing for all my years.
If ever there’s a loved one
To whom affection pour,
Impress the truly special one
A ti – a mi amor.
I wish my voice would carry
“A Chevy or a Ford?”
They’ll notice our opinions if
We sing in one accord.
Uncover hidden feelings
A camouflagéd thought
It’s easier to speak my voice
Expressing what I ought.
My song is “Hallelujah”
I lift His name on high
I sing because God fashioned me,
The sun, the moon and sky.
It is a lovely chorus
When up on eagle’s wing
I raise my heart and hands and voice
And shout, “That’s why I sing.”
