i Sit and Look Out

I sit and look in to all the hardships, heartbreaks, and crisis I hear the screams of pain coming from my mind and heart. I see a face in the mirror that is not mine, but the one I have created to hide my sorrows I see the little girl I once knew with a vibrant smile, rosy cheeks, and pigtails that bounced as she ran I mark the scars that have torn and ripped me apart to change me into who I am today I see the real me trapped within a cage with shadows of sorrow and darkness preventing me from release I observe the people who walk by day after day. The people who always wear masks to hide their identities I observe the world with all its falseness and everyone working to be these things we call "perfect" All these show that nothing is pure or true Deception , Trapped , and am Mislead

"but the one I have created to hide my sorrows" Wow. All of this masks imagery, the falseness, the shadowy cage... It seems to me that some of the most powerful poetry in this strain tends to do exactly what you've done-- they make a divide between a past and present self, a good and bad self. It's because we start trying to see ourselves the way we see other people, from the outside looking in. I'm so sorry that you're living in a place right now where nobody's really "being himself." But just know that that girl in pigtails isn't just dead-- she's buried inside of you somewhere, even though your scars cover her up. But scars can be healed ^_^ so here's hoping that life is better for you, writer
