I, Snow

I like to watch the snow fall
Upon the trees
so slowly

D            n             i              g      in the breeze.
        a            c            n

I should have been like snow--
Hips twirling to the beat
Hair knotted, swinging loose
Slow enough to enjoy the fall

But I was born a solid brick
Strong enough to lift a house
Square enough to fit right in
All was right, I knew my place
Yet, I yearned to touch the ground
It was Fervor shoving me from the wall

Bricks don't fly;
They fall
So I fell

Down,

      Down,

            Down

The ground stood up to meet me,
Against the snow, I shattered
I became thousands, millions of pieces
I know I'll never find them all,
I'll never be the same again
Never square enough to fill the wall
Never staunch enough to hold a home
But in some ways, in many ways,
I am better--
Who knew I was not just one,
but a million different things?

Now I remember
Why I take every breath
As though it were my last--
   I am snow
   I am breathtaking
