I Stand Amazed

Isn’t it amazing? How a writer will take Just a sheet of blank paper and a pen, And with their imagination, and words will make A world that was known to no one but them Isn’t it amazing? How they reveal to us Through black words on white pages, the bright colors of life They admit, subtly, how they feel, to us: The elation of joy; the sorrow of strife Isn’t it amazing? How a singer can use A melody to turn this bleak world around And the power behind the words he may choose Is a power that, elsewhere, cannot be found Isn’t it amazing? How so much hope Can radiate from the strum of a guitar’s strings; And a desperate soul at the end of a rope Can be encouraged to fight on, through whatever life brings Isn’t it amazing? How a painter can see The world through an entirely different lens And convince us that things that aren’t, could be And the irrational suddenly makes perfect sense Isn’t it amazing? How a thousand words Can scream from the careful strokes of a brush Its message is seen, and cannot be heard; It is tangibly felt, but cannot be touched Isn’t it amazing? How the dancer can glide And never seem to touch the ground With silent steps and graceful strides And flying leaps that make no sound Isn’t it amazing? How rhythm seems To possess their bodies as they soar Such passion shown, such beautiful dreams Imagined on such an empty floor Isn’t it amazing? The difference they make These artists, these incredible few They follow their hearts, and though much is at stake They stand for what they believe to be true It IS amazing! How they stand strong In a world that they strive so hard to redeem The world won’t be changed by those who belong Step forward, and follow your dream
