I Take A Step

What moves us?

We all wander through life,

What urges us to take the next step?

I see my mom,

Rushing to pack what she can in a few minutes.

Putting on a brave face for us.

Leading us to safety,

And yet she has no clue where she’s going.

I take a step.

I see her working,

Picking up overtime to keep food on the table.

Sacrificing her time so we can enjoy ours.

I take a step.

I see her trying.

Fighting to love herself again.

I take a step.

For her I take a step.

I take a step to help hurting families.

I take a step to provide for people in need.

I take a step to inspire people the way they inspire me
