I Like to Think
I like to think I’m invincible
Like nothing ever hurts me.
I like to think I’m strong enough
So no one will desert me.
I like to think I know what’s wrong
Especially what’s wrong with me.
What’s wrong with me?
Why can’t I see?
Why can’t I breathe
So suddenly?
I like to think I can’t be selfish.
I like to think I’m always selfless,
When on second thought
I know that I’m not
And I know I’ll get caught
In my hypocrisy.
I like to think that I can’t be wrong.
I like to think that I’m always right.
I like to think that everyone likes me,
When I know that’s a lie
That I tell myself,
That might help my self esteem.
I just wanna scream.
I like to think that I don’t have to cry,
When I know that I do
Cuz I bottle up my emotions
As I go through all the motions
Of everyday life
Filled with nothing but strife.
I like to think I control myself,
But I know that it takes a toll on my health,
My mental health
Is going through hell
Like I’m locked in a cell.
I like to think that my thoughts are my own,
When I get in a zone
Where I’m sad and alone.
I like to think that I like to think
But I don’t like to think at all.
