I think about this a lot

the rain keeps falling

and floods my golden palace

until it floats away

until I couldn't even touch it if I wanted to

and I wish I could tell if I wanted to

it should be the easiest thing in the world, right?

a yes or no question?

instead it keeps swinging like a pendulum

and knocking me back on the upswing

burying me into the cold midwestern dirt

soil, I guess I should say

(I can't stop wondering if I'll ever be happy)
