I think he was flirting with me

Disclaimer: I've never dated

and I don't know if my crush has

but he says we're friends

so I'm realizing that maybe we're not meant to be

Yesterday, I met a guy

He got up out of his seat

and came up to me, commenting that he thinks he knows me from somewhere

I'd seen him around before and I was thinking the same thing

because I knew his voice whenever I went to the room

My friend was dating him when I knew her

but he said they don't talk anymore

so that must mean he's available

and I am, too

I shouldn't get too hung up on my crush

He and I haven't been hanging out as much as before

but I still get happy to see him

and I think I surprised him when I visited this week

but we work

and we go to different places throughout our days

our schedules don't align anymore

and he hasn't replied to my last message

so I stopped texting him

I didn't want to burden him with my problems

This new guy, though

isn't my type

I prefer clean-cut hair like my crush's

I prefer a fit physique

and some faces just look cuter than others

but this new guy

was complimenting my dress last night

I didn't think it was anything special

but it accentuated my womanhood,

showing the world that I'm no longer a girl

He was talking to me quite a bit, even though we were supposed to play a game

with our friends

We sat next to each other

and I can't get him out of my head

It's nice to feel wanted

important to someone

I like when people give me attention

"So go for it," I tell myself.

My crush doesn't know I like him, and maybe we'll just be friends for the rest of our lives

What's so wrong with a little flirting?
