I Think I love Myself
I love myself.
That’s a lie.
I say it loud pretending to have all the confidence in the world.
Pretending I am not fully aware of how much space I take up,
Or the amount of food I ate for lunch.
I am trying to calculate the calories in my head,
Suddenly going hungry doesn’t sound so bad.
All I ever wanted was words of love to surround my body.
To kiss me from the top of my head,
To every crease,
Corner,
Crack,
Scar.
To everything I hate about myself.
But no one’s lips seek my body.
No one’s eyes look twice my way.
So, I wrote a poem to myself.
With the words I want my lover to say to me.
Saying words like beautiful, and almost believing it.
The sing song tone of the poem makes my eyes look like stars,
My face like an angel’s,
My body like a statue.
Like it was meant to be in a museum, admired by all, inspiring to others.
A work of art.
“She is everything you want, she is my forever, I love her.”
I love her.
I love her.
I love her.
I love her.
I think I believe it.
I love myself.
