I think I'm choking

I need permission to let you be happy
honestly I feel like I have to grieve
I already told you I'm selfish like that
and you told me I was safe with you
so for years I believed I was
I need to remember that somehow I still am
but I am ruined knowing that, though I may be safe with you,
you are not required to be
safe
with
me.
