I Thought You Knew

If I could stop

I would

If I knew how to turn it off

I wouldn't still be here

Because being alone

Never scared me

Not liket this

And a little rain

Never bothered me

Not before you

But here

In this house

Without you

Is just a reminder

Another way

That I relive the day

You walked away

I wish

I should've known better

I tried

But it was nowhere near enough

I always pushed

While you pulled

And now

In this bedroom

On this cold bed

I realize

That the last thing I remember

Was the pain in your eyes

All I gave you

Was walls and lies

And if I could undo

Anything

It would be losing you

I thought

I really believed

I loved you right

I gave all I had

When in reality

I gave you the worst of me

All those fights

Screaming

In the dead of night

When all you ever wanted

The only thing you needed

Was for me

To wrap my arms around you

And tell you to stay

But instead

I let you walk away

Because I didn't know

I know

Now I see

What I refused to see before

But it's too late now

You're gone

Far away

And now I see

All the broken pieces

I left you stranded in

All those scars

I inflicted

On your heart

If I had known

If I really knew

How much you needed me

And all I gave to you

Maybe

I could've told you

That I loved you

When I thought

You always knew
