I too know why the caged bird sings
The notes glide off my tongue again
Further perpetuating my adrenaline
My nerves are eradicated
as my heart stops vigorously palpitating
I can't help but gleam from the sounds circling around my ears
It was all worth my doubt, dedication, and tears
The familiar operatic melody slowly fills up the room
Like a bride graciously watching her groom
I can't help but be vulnerable
Hopefully receiving affirmation to make me comfortable
The piano intertwines with voice
creating a drama with no other choice but to stop my breath from escaping
Causing emotion to spring forth instead
Only starting my voice to be lead
To a crescendo of only omnipotent explanation
And in that moment I receive my validation
I was created to do this
I can only do this
To sing opera is my gift
So to the heavens my music, I lift
