I Turn to Words

When actions fail me, I turn to words.

When darkness threatens to take me, I turn to words.

When joy seizes my heart and threatens to leak through my pores, I turn to words.

When sorrow consumes me and begs for release, I turn to words.

I turn to words, when laughter brightens the sun.

I turn to words, when justice is served.

I turn to words, when love endures.

I turn to words, as the world turns.

While I still breathe, I turn to words.

While hope remains, I turn to words.

While battles are still fought, I turn to words.

While friends are sought, I turn to words.

I turn to words, while choirs sing.

I turn to words, while echoes ring.

I turn to words, while flowers still grow.

I turn to words, while it softly snows.

If the stars should fall, I will turn to words.

If I must answer the call, I will turn to words.

If the world will burn, I will turn to words.

If the hate will end, I will turn to words.

I will turn to words, if shadows come to life.

I will turn to words, if the stars fall.

I will turn to words, if hunger ends.

I will turn to words, if fright disappears.

Someday nothing will be written by hand.

Someday no one will understand.

Someday change will cease.

Someday it will be a great relief.

I will turn to words, someday.
