I Turned 19 Today
There's a lighthouse on a hill by the Goonies' place,
where you can throw balsa wood planes from up on high,
and watch them circle the trees a good quarter of a mile out.
I tried rolling down the hill once or twice,
and ate hunks of bread loaf with my favorite brand of crisps;
the view of the fireworks on my birthday was pretty nice.
My brother was living in a town nearby,
and we'd picked him up from the dorms for the day;
We spent an hour taking videos of the waves that afternoon.
That was back when my hair was green,
and our old car was as brand new as a could be a lemon;
I've become rather fond of being a lot more crazy since then.
But the one thing that I'd change,
if I could go back in time and relive that day,
would be that I'd have taken Mom's advice and brought a coat.
