I understand

You told me you were swamped with work and I miss your good night texts...

but I understand.

We were supposed to go to Community college together but you got accepted to Stanford and had to leave...

but I understand.

You told me you wasn't ready date nevermind or move in with me after you came back like we planned...

but I understand.

We were supposed to have our first kid by twenty seven and you weren't ready...

but I understand.

I had to leave for Afghanistan despite the kid being on it's way and I tried to do everything stop it.

And all you said in return was,

"I understand."
